Gym, Rahm Parc’s solo exhibition in Seoul, was on view from May 3 to 25, 2026. 

As its title suggests, the exhibition is conceived as a space for practicing the movement of the mind. In an image-saturated environment, seeing often serves only to reaffirm what has already been captured. The artist departs from this inertia and turns attention to movements of the mind that cannot be captured.

Installed in the space are “wall-bodies” that function like exercise apparatuses. Visitors move among these structures of varying scales and forms. Emerging from the artist's mural practice, the wall-body may evoke walls, sculptures, or architectural elements, yet it does not fully belong to any of these categories. It may resemble a temporary partition at first glance, but it does not recede into the background.

The paintings on these wall-bodies connect the coordinates of the body in space with those of the mind through color. In this process, the movements of body and mind become entangled while remaining misaligned, and familiar senses of space and time are reconfigured as unfamiliar. Rather than merely looking at images, visitors move, adjust, and look again. In doing so, the exhibition reveals that vision arises as an event under specific conditions.

박아람(Rahm Parc)의 개인전 《짐(Gym)》은 마음의 근육을 단련하는 장으로 5월 3일 일요일부터 5월 25일 월요일까지 서울에서 열렸다. 

이번 전시는 제목이 암시하듯 마음의 운동을 연습하는 공간으로 구성된다. 이미지가 넘치는 환경 속에서, 보는 일은 종종 이미 포착된 이미지를 재확인하는 데 머문다. 작가는 이 관성에서 벗어나, 포착될 수 없는 마음의 운동에 주목한다.

전시장에는 운동 기구와 같은 역할을 하는 ‘벽체(wall-body)’들이 설치된다. 관객은 서로 다른 크기와 형태의 벽체들 사이를 이동하며 자신의 위치를 조정하게 된다. 벽체는 작가가 그동안의 벽화 작업을 바탕으로 설계한 것으로, 벽이나 조각, 건축 등을 떠올리게 하지만 어느 한 범주에도 완전히 속하지 않는다. 얼핏 가벽처럼 보이지만 배경으로 물러나지 않는다.

이러한 벽체 위에 그려진 그림들은 색을 통해 몸이 위치한 공간의 좌표와 마음의 좌표를 연결한다. 이 과정에서 몸과 마음의 움직임은 어긋난 채 얽히고, 익숙한 공간과 시간의 감각은 낯설게 재구성된다. 관객은 이미지를 바라보는 데 그치지 않고, 이동하고, 조정하고, 다시 보게 된다. 이는 시각이 특정한 조건 속에서 발생하는 사건일 수 있음을 드러낸다.
